SKILLS

Below are a few of the skills and strengths I have come to possess throughout previous jobs and learning experiences during my time in college.

– Organization

– Open-mindedness

– Event Management

– Communication

– Problem-solving

– Positive attitude/Passion

– Adaptability

– Leadership

Most of these strengths have developed as I commit myself to my work in class, in my organizations, and in my employment. Being a leader I have found that my comfort zone will limit my ability to serve others. Learning how to communicate and cooperate with others is essential for getting goals accomplished and establishing relationships with my peers and those I’m serving. There will always be changes in life, hiccups here and there, and in those situations I have learned to go with the flow, identify a solution to the problem, and adapt to my new surroundings. Welcoming and accepting change is typically not a challenge for me and I would say that it is because of my open-mindedness and positiveness that allows me to do so. Finding the best in every situation and person has helped me develop a positive attitude and put forth my best effort in my work. Even when I don’t necessarily agree with someone or something I always make sure to consider it and try to see it from a different perspective. This skill is especially important when working as a leader in a team with all different personalities and opinions. Event management is my field of study in college and even in a short period of time I have learned the ins and outs of planning an event while gaining valuable experience organizing events on campus. When it comes to planning events, staying organized is a priority. There are so many little details that need to be accounted for in order to minimize potential issues. Even outside of event management, I have realized that I am a systematic, detail-oriented leader who often apologizes for maybe being too critical or analytic.

One thing that is for certain is that my skills and strengths are constantly growing and changing. I expect that as I make my way through this college journey and take hold of new opportunities I will develop new skills and knowledge to help be become a better leader and event planner.
